Got out early today and had the waves to myself. It was blowing a strong southerly wind with an easterly swell around the 1ft mark so I didnt have huge expectations for today but managed to sneak in some small fun ones before anyone else came out. Dad came out and snapped off a few pics which came up epic!

Queens birthday long weekend. 10 of us went up Mt. Warning on the Saturday. The weather held out for us until we were nearly at the top. You can see the clouds slowly building up as we got higher. I had time to eat my lunch before it started to rain then it didnt stop till we got down to the bottom which made the chain section nice and slippery. Bit of a bum that there wasnt any view but was still great to get up there and everyone had a fun trip.

Joel Fitzgerald Surfboards

Great new clip by Simon Lister. Its amazing to see how varied the creation of a new board is these days and how even though technology is doing it way quicker how much it relies on the man made creation before it is able to do anything. Love it. Makes me keen to start doing more shaping myself. To be able to start with a piece of foam and create something that allows you to ride a moving wave is amazing. As much as I enjoy shaping and moulding the minds of tomorrows leaders (and followers!) I think I know what I would rather be doing ;)

Kiddies goats

Got up early this morning and headed out for a paddle. The forcast wasnt too promising for swell but its been 3 weeks since my last surf so I was getting wet no matter how much it looked like a lake. Dad and Josh came today and had their first taste of the cooler water with a wettie. Funniest part of the session was watching Josh trying to get out of his suit in the carpark. The sunrise was amazing with the rays coming through the trees on the way out around 6:20. I had an epic session snaging a few nice ones at the end around the 3ft range. Not bad for the 1.5 forcast. It picked up after the westerly started to get into it and got some realy nice shape to a few of them. Paddling in wide then cutting back in before a massive bottom turn from backhand to forehand and powering off the top to try and race the next section. Madness fun!

A wet morning

I decided to try for a surf this morning and headed out to a left hand pointbreak to try and make the most of the nor east swell. Got out there and it was 6ft and closing out. Crap. Anyway, I had fun paddling out, and paddling out again and paddling out again. I got one mushy ride but it wasnt anything that great. Was nice being in the water though. And always good to push your body a little harder. There was an emu up at the carpark when we got back out so got a few pics. Got up heaps close!

Fresh water fun

Had our first fish at Mcphersons Crossing today. Found a little island near the bridge and threw the line into an eddy where the current wasnt rushing quite so fast. We all got Fish which was epic. Check out my one that Cameron is holding. Nice colour matching boys ;)

stuff

I had a quick surf by myself on monday. At least that was the idea. I ended up sharing the break with about 20 other guys in a break zone that would probably fit about 5 or 6:) aniway, it was heaps of fun and I was able to puch the longboard harder than I have before. There were a few nice, almost hollow sections, that sat up beautifully. It was just nice to be in the water. Its been a southerly swell with at least 20kt southerly pushing over the top all week so to have a nice quiet morning with a glassy face was epic!!! Im hoping to get out a few more times this week. That will depend on our bub who is due to pop out today. We were hoping it would come early but this one dosent want to come out quite yet. If it comes soon it can have its first beach trip to Evans. Should be there later in the week dv. I took a few pics with my phone as I forgot the camera and will try to post them up soon. Also have pics of the new room that we built for the bub out the back of the house.
